HITO BERNARD ATANGA

Hito is de aartsvader van het Lifestyle project. Hij is meubelmaker, huizenbouwer, onderwijzer en vanaf februari 2018 zal hij het hoofd zijn van het Lifestyle Training Center, dat bovendien voorlopig gehuisvestigd is naast zijn werkplaats.

ADONGO APONYELKO

Adongo is, in cooperation with Ayembla Abane, the owner of the company ASONKO WOODWORK. Asonko is trained by Maxwell, and the company has 1 apprentice. They produce any furniture (beds, sofa’s, cupboards). They have no electricity in the workshop.

ALHASSAN IBRAHIM SADIK

Ibrahim is a trained woodworker. He has – on and off – six trainees working for him. His company is called HOLY FURNITURE & CARPENTRY WORKS. He works with electric tools, and produces al sorts of furniture, as well as kitchen cabinets. Ibrahim will also be one of the teachers at the training center.

ATAMBIRE ASAKIYA

Atambire’s company name is SMALL SMALL FURNITURE WORKSHOP. Long time ago he started as a trainee himself, and now he has eight trainee’s working for him. They make all sorts of furniture, and they also do roofing. There is no elctricity in the workshop.

AYINBIRE ABANA

Ayinbire works with three apprentices is his workshop, called AYINBIRE CARPENTRY SHOP. He makes kitchen cabinets, sofa’s and all other sorts of furniture.

AYINGA ADONGO

ADONGO CARPENTRY WORKS is the company name of Ayinga. But he says it’s a temporary name – he’s still thinking about his definitive company name. He has three trainee’s working with him, and makes wardrobes, beds and some roofing. Upholstery he farms out.

BEN AVOSIAH

Ben operates his workshop under the name of BEN’S FURNITURE WORKS. He had his training to become a woodworker with a master, and now he has three trainee’s working with him. They make all sorts of furniture and they do roofing also.

BISMARK TOMBIL

When Bismark finished his training at the workshop of Linam & Sundy he started his own company under the name BISMARK FURNITURE WORKS. He has six apprentices working with him now, and they make sofa’s, wardrobes and many other types of furniture. They also do roofing.

CLETUS AKOLGO

Cletus is a woodworker who is specialised in roofing. His company is called AKOLGO ROOFING, and he works there with two apprentices of 22 and 27 years old.

CLIFFORD LANDI

Clifford’s company is called GOOD FINISH CARPENTRY SHOP. He has received his training as woodworker at the secondary technical school, and works now with up to thirteen trainee’s. They make tables, desks, wardrobes, sofa’s, beds and anything else you can think of.

DANIEL APIINI

Daniel is trained as woodworker by Sundy, and now has his own company called WINE-PANGA CARPENTERING SHOP. Working with six trainee’s he produces desks, chairs and sofa’s, wardrobes, beds and all other sorts of furniture. He also does upholstery, as well as roofing.

DANIEL ATANGA

ATANGA DAN CARPENTRY SHOP is the name of Daniel’s workshop. At the time of this writing he has no trainee’s, but before he had four boys. He received his training at Kojo. Daniel makes all sorts of furniture (no roofing).

DONATUS DERRY

Donatus’ company is called DONA FURNITURE ENTERPRISE. He learned the woodworking with Tetteh, and has now 3 trainee’s working with him. They make cabinets, kitchens, sofa’s and wardrobes. They don’t use electricity.

FATAWUH NSOH

Fatawu works alone, without trainee’s at the moment. He does general furniture making, and makes also upholstery for sofa’s.

SAMUEL AMOAKO AND HIS FATHER

Some time ago Samuel took over his fathers company NYAME ADOM FURNITURE WORKS. His father works there still, as well as 5 apprentices. They use several electric tools, and they make wardrobes, beds, coffins, chairs – and they also do roofing.

FELIX ADONGO

Felix is a self-employed roofing carpenter, and cooperates often with Derry Donatus.

GODFRED BAFFOE

The name of Godfred’s company is G.S.BESKE ENTERPRISE. He is trained for 5 year on the technical school, and has now two apprentices working with him. The workshop is next to his house and to his wifes hairdressing saloon. There is electricity in the workshop, and when he needs electric tools he rents them. They make beds, wardrobes, sofa’s and they do the upholstery also.

HABIB BIGA

Habib’s company is called BOSS FURNITURE WORKS. He got his woodworker education with a master in Accra. Now master Habib has four apprentices working with him. He uses electrical tools and makes all sorts of furniture.

HITO BERNARD ATANGA

Apart from being the initiator and the headmaster of the new Lifestyle Training Center, and apart from being a primary school teacher for some parts of the week, Hito runs his workshop under the name of RASTY FURNITURE WORKS. With him his brother works, as well as some four apprentices. Hito has a much admired well organised toolroom, with many handtools and some electric tools. In the workshop they make cabinets, wardrobes, frames, and all sorts of furniture. Next door to his workshop is the temporary classroom for the Lifestyle Training Center.

JAMES ATANGA

James’ workshop bear the name JAMES FURNITURE WORKS. He has 2 trainee’s working with him – he himself is trained by Maxwell. He makes many sorts of furniture like cabinets, beds, wardrobes, sofa’s etc. He uses some electrical tools.

JAMES AYARUM

James works with three trainee’s under the company name JAMES CARPENTRY. He himself got his training at Tetteh’s workshop. They make all sorts of furniture, but they don’t do roofing. One of his ambitions is to have a showroom with a stock of furniture.

JOHN ADUKO

John had his training in woodworking at Tetteh’s – now he has his own workshop with the name ADUKO CARPENTRY SHOP. He works with four trainee’s. They produce all sorts of furniture, but he also makes things like ceilings.

JOHN AGYABENG

GOOD THINGS FURNITURE is the name of John’s workshop. He works with two, sometimes four, trainee’s. He himself has been, after finishing junior high school, trainee in Accra. He makes, using some small electric tools, all sorts of furniture as well as roofing.

JUDE LAARI

The always good-humoured Jude is from Navrongo. His company – sterted by his father – is called LAARI’S ENTERPRISE. He often works in Bolgatanga and does a lot of roofing but produces also other woodwork.

KELVIN KOJO

Kelvins company goes by the name STEPHEN NYAMEKYE FURNITURE. Kelvin was an apprentice with Stephen, but has now five apprentices working with himself. He doesn’t have electricity, but they make all sorts of furniture – mostly wardrobes and lounge suites.

KOFI MAXWELL

Kofi works alone, without apprentices, in his workshop, called K MAX SMALL SMALL ENTERPRISE, because he likes it. He himself is trained as woodworker on a technical school. He makes office chairs, wardrobes, beds and all other furniture, but no sofa’s. He uses several electric tools like drill, sander, jigsaw and planer.

KWAKU ANANE

Kwaku is trained to be a woodworker by master Yaw, and now he has his own company called ANANE CARPENTRY. He works with three trainee’s and they produce beds, wardrobes, cabinets, sofa’s and any other sort of furniture.

LINAM BUGRE AND SUNDY DAAH

Sundy and Linam run their company called NAWUN TIYA COMPANY LIMITED. It is one of the bigger woodwork firms in Bolgatanga. The work with 7 to 10 trainee’s, and make all sorts of furniture. They sometimes also make coffins. Sundy and Linam had their training with Maxwell. They use mainly handtools, but have some bigger machines too.

MARK NYAABE

NYAABA MARK FURNITURE WORKS is the name of Marks workshop. He makes, with the three apprentices he has with him, various types of furniture, including chairs and sofa’s.

MAXWELL ZONG

Many of the woodworkers in Bolgatanga had their first training with master Maxwell, who has his company called NORTHERN FURNITURE WORKS. Maxwell works now with two masters and three trainee’s. They produce chairs, beds, tables, and any other sort of furniture.

MUBARAK TILAADO

Mubarak operates under the name TILAADO WOOD WORKS. Four apprentices work with him, of whom two are still in school. His family is from Bawku, where he learned the work in a workshop. Using electric tools like drill, sander etc. he makes wardrobes, beds, sofa’s  and even makes the upholstery himself sometimes.

MUSAF MUSTAFA

the name of Musaf’s company is MILLENNIUM. One of these days he’ll move to a new place in Bolgatanga. At the moment he has two apprentices of around 16 years old, and his brother working with him. Musaf has several electric tools (drill, sanding machine, jigsaw etc) and produces all sorts of furniture.

MUSAH SUMAILA

MUSU FURNITURE is the name of Musafs company. He had his training at the technical high school, and was apprentice with Mr Robert. Now he works with three apprentices himself. At the moment of this writing he has no electricity, but one of this days the company will move to a new location in Bolgatanga. He makes all sorts of furniture and does upholstery.

MUSAMIL MUSAH

Musah’s company name is WINDWOOD ENTERPRISE. He works there with four trainee’s, and they make wardrobes and all other furniture, but no coffins. They do roofing also, though. He uses several electrical tools.

RICHARD ATANGA

Richard run his company under the temporary name ATANGA RICHARD CARPENTRY WORKSHOP. He himself had his training at Sundy and Linam, and now he has four trainees working with him. He makes all sorts of furniture like chairs, cabinets, beds. He doesn’t do roofing. At the moment of writing he works only outside, so at night he has to put all his materials and tools in an nextdoor shop.

STEPHEN ATARO

Stephen is a woodworker from Navrongo. He does all sorts of woodworking under his company name STEPHENS CARPENTRY WORKS.

EMMANUEL TETTEH DOKU

Tetteh’s workshop, called TEE ENTERPRISE, is one of the bigger and older workshops in Bolgatanga. Tetteh’s father was a woodworker, and Tetteh attended the technical school and was trained working for his father. He himself trained many of the younger furniture maker in Bolga, and has now 6 apprentices and one master working with him. They use handtools and some bigger machines. The make all sorts of furniture, including the upholstery of chairs and sofa’s.
